Amanda Roberts-Helmich

Amanda (Mandy) Roberts-Helmich, 30, of Troy, MO,left this world on Sunday, May 8,2011. She passed at her residence after a struggle with diabetes. Amanda was born on July 9, 1980 in St. Louis, MO to Robert Samuel and Margaret Jo(Balch) Roberts of Hawk Point, MO. While a student a Claude Brown Elementary, Amanda was active in the Girl Scouts and spent many beautiful summer days with her friends at Camp Tuckahoe learning about nature. While attending Buchanan High School in Troy, Amanda was an active member of the concert and marching band where she played the flute, a member of concert choir, and she also participated in the school musical. After high school, Amanda began a career in the retail industry, while pursuing a higher education at Missouri Baptist University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. On October 2, 2004 in a beautiful ceremony at the Butterfly House, surrounded by family and friends, she was joined in holy matrimony by family friend Timothy Zuroweste to the love of her life, Gabriel Lee Helmich of Troy. They moved into their first house together and Amanda worked as a substitute teacher, while Gabe worked as a land survey technician. Amanda loved animals, especially her cats, Phil & Bitsy. She also loved to collect frog figurines, and her house was filled with them. She was very interested in the Japanese culture and loved eating sushi and sachimi. She had a large collection of Anime which she enjoyed watching with her nephews. Surviving are her loving family: her husband: Gabe Helmich of Troy; her parents: Robert and Margaret Roberts of Hawk Point; her brother: Joe Roberts of Hawk Point; her sister: Jozie and husband Chris Suchland of Troy; her maternal aunt: Lita Balch; her nephews: Alex, Ashton, Connor and Jacob Suchland and Devon, Dylan and Toby Collins who will miss their "Aunt Mandy". She is further survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Sharon Henderson of Bowling Green, her sister-in-law: Melissa and husband Rob Collins of Hawk Point; her aunt-in-law: Sandra Reed; and her special cats: "Phil" and "Bitsy"; other relatives and friends. A memorial service to be held at 7p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379 (636) 528-8244. Officiating: Rev. Steve Majdecki. Visitation to be held on Sat., May 14, 2011 from 4-7p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, Troy.
